The Italian Vittorio Monti scored the most important success of his professional life with this Hungarian-style Czardas (originally scored for either violin or mandolin and piano). It was soon arranged for all kinds of ensembles and solo instruments - the violin, saxophone and piano being the latest! Few people remember Monti today, but everyone will be familiar with his music here - making him a true immortal. Czardas (Hungarian Csarda - 'tavern') is a dance from the 19th century in duple time. It's slow (lassu) sections alternating with its fast (friss) ones. [More] [Less] |
